The Sexy Cowboy Man
The Sexy Cowboy Man put out his fire and lay under the stars. He awoke the next morning fully rested and packed his gear. He mounted his horse and set off into the valley. It was a beautiful valley, full of lush trees and a glistening blue waterfall. The waterfall formed a large lake at the west end of the valley. He camped on the southern edge of the valley that night and the next day he arrived in Mota City.
His first destination in the city was the Grand Totali Hotel.
Keith, a childhood friend, met the Sexy Cowboy Man in the hotel’s bar.
They had not seen each other in many moons. Keith was troubled; for he did
not know if he wanted to marry the woman he loved so he asked for the Sexy
Cowboy Man’s advice. The Sexy Cowboy Man told Keith of the woman he
once loved.
“Her name was Kara. She was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen,”
he began, as the to men exited the bar and the hotel, “She had chestnut
hair and rosy cheeks. We met in the summer and married the next winter. We
spent all of our time together. I begun to work more and more; soon we were
only together a few hours a day. If I wasn’t working, we were attending
an event. She became ill one day in early spring. Doctors couldn’t help
her and she lay helpless for nearly a week. She recovered slowly, but she
recovered nonetheless. I began to devote all my time to her again.”
The two men entered a cemetery. The Sexy Cowboy Man continued his story without
stopping, though Keith shivered as he entered the graveyard. “Kara fell
ill again the next summer. This time she didn’t recover. I sat at her
side, holding her hand, until she was taken from me. I loved her so much that
I wanted to be buried along with her. I couldn’t stand being without
her. If you truly lover her, Keith, devote yourself to her. Spend your time
like you’re running out of it. Each moment is precious and you never
know if it will be your last. I surely didn’t know our time was dwindling.”
The Sexy Cowboy Man stopped at a headstone. Keith looked down. In bold letters
it read Kara Wayne.
